American here; got rejected from Mansfield for materials science today. What's really sad is that I recently got my SAT II scores, which were all well over 700, and I also had quite a few 5s on AP exams.

The only good thing that is coming out of this is that I can do chemistry, which I am better at, instead of matsci. That's pretty much it.

I not very mature about it, but I'm finally getting my act together. Bristol will be great and i can always apply to Oxbridge postgrad.

Rejection letter [Nov. 30th, 2006|07:46 pm]

Just joined this facebook contraption. Looks fairly easy to use.

Today I've been rejected from St. Anne's in oxford for physics and philosophy.

I made a complete mess of my written tests, and instead of "interviewing 90%" of all candidates, the department seems to have given a good quarter the boot, according to the statistics they gave.

I guess it really is my fault, but when a university rejects you because you failed to correctly answer impossibly hard questions for two hours of your life, you cannot help but think that you've been short-changed a little...

Hi everyone,

Well, I received my official rejection notice from Exeter College, Oxford, today, so I suppose my dreams of college in England have been shattered until I hear back from LSE. I never expected anything to come of my application, but still, the outright rejection stings a little. I live in South Florida, so I'm EXTREMELY desperate to get out of this country (for reasons obvious to anyone who keeps up with the news).

Damn, I knew I should've applied to St. Andrews.

+ cambridge was a beautiful city.

- i hated everyone i talked to at downing college; though the college itself was lovely.

- the english course looked, frankly, boring.

- my interviewers at queen's college were patronising (though one of them had a quite lovely pink scarf on)

+ i'm glad i didn't get offered a place.

+ but, oh, i am enjoying my hearty mental 'screw you, cambridge!' after receiving my AAA with almost-full marks in all three.

hi, by the way. i hope everyone else in the same boat as me did fantastically in their exams! :)

I got in to Oxford. An unconditional offer. It has been the most depressing experience of my entire life. I wish I was dead. Be glad you didn't make it- you can go to another university with real people and have a real life instead. I had a full and exciting life before I got to Oxford- now I am clinically depressed. It isn't what you think it is. It's a sham.
